MLC Partners are delighted to be supporting a leading London-based higher education institution in the recruitment of an Interim Operations and Facilities Manager. This is a busy, hands-on role with line management responsibility, overseeing the day-to-day delivery of facilities and operational services across a complex, multi-site campus environment. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring a high-quality, compliant and customer-focused service for staff, students and visitors.
The Role
Reporting into senior faculty services leadership, the Operations and Facilities Manager will take ownership of operational delivery across multiple buildings, leading a small team with varying levels of experience. This role requires someone confident, adaptable and comfortable being pulled in multiple directions, while maintaining strong operational oversight and team cohesion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Line management of a small facilities and services team, providing clear direction, support and confidence
- Overseeing day-to-day facilities operations across multiple university sites, ensuring service continuity
- Acting as the main point of contact for estates, maintenance and external service providers
- Managing health & safety compliance, inspections and incident reporting
- Supporting space moves, new starters and operational readiness for teaching and events
- Driving continuous improvement in processes, service delivery and attention to detail
About You:
- Proven experience in facilities and operations management within a university environment - essential
- Confident and approachable management style, able to adapt to different personalities and working styles
- Comfortable being hands-on and “getting stuck in” when required
- Strong attention to detail alongside the ability to manage competing priorities
- Tech-savvy, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Flexible and resilient, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changeable environment
This role will ideally suit someone available to work 8:30am–4:30pm, with flexibility around start times between 8:00–9:00am.
