MLC Partners are delighted to be supporting a leading higher education organisation in recruiting an Finance & Operations Coordinator. This is a varied, student-focused role sitting within the Student Activities team, combining financial administration, budgeting and controls with the opportunity to support projects that improve the student experience.

The Role:

Working closely with students, colleagues across the Student Activities team and the wider Finance function, you will help ensure clubs and societies have the financial support, processes and guidance they need to thrive. While financial administration, budgeting and controls form an important part of the remit, the student-facing element of the role is equally important. You will work directly with students to provide advice and support, while also contributing to projects and initiatives designed to improve the wider student experience. This includes work focused on inclusivity, belonging, social justice and reducing financial barriers to student participation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and support annual, event and trip budgets, providing advice to students on income, expenditure and financial planning.
  • Process and oversee financial documentation, expenditure and other finance-related administration for student groups.
  • Support the annual budgeting and funding allocation process, including advising clubs and societies on budgets and grant requests.
  • Provide guidance to students on financial processes, policies and controls, answering queries and helping groups manage their finances effectively.
  • Deliver finance-related training and develop resources that make financial processes clear and accessible for student volunteers.
  • Support fundraising, sponsorship and funding opportunities for student activities, ensuring appropriate financial processes are followed.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at improving the student experience, including work around inclusion, belonging and removing financial barriers to participation.

About you:

  • Experience within finance administration, with a good understanding of financial processes, controls and documentation.
  • Practical experience of reviewing, managing or approving budgets, including forecasting and reforecasting.
  • Confident working with financial systems and processes, with strong attention to detail and organisation skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with a wide range of stakeholders and providing a high level of customer or student support.
  • Knowledge of higher education, Students’ Unions, clubs and societies, or a similar membership-led environment would be advantageous.
  • An excellent communicator who can explain financial information clearly and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
