Events and Marketing Manager
Salary: Β£34,500 β Β£36,500
Organisation: Institute of Water (IWater)
Working pattern: Hybrid working, with a requirement to work onsite in Gateshead one day per week
About the role
MLC Partners are delighted to be partnering with the Institute of Water (IWater) to recruit an enthusiastic and commercially minded Events and Marketing Manager to lead the delivery of engaging events, impactful marketing campaigns and valuable opportunities for members and partners.
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, organised and proactive professional to take ownership of IWater's national events programme, including its annual conference, while developing marketing campaigns that drive membership growth and engagement.
Working closely with colleagues and a dedicated volunteer network, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing sponsorship opportunities, building strong partnerships and delivering initiatives that make a real difference to the organisation and its members.
What you'll be doing
- Events management: Plan and deliver the annual conference and national events programme, managing everything from budgets and logistics to suppliers and evaluation.
- Marketing and campaigns: Develop and deliver engaging, targeted marketing campaigns that support membership growth, retention, events and wider organisational objectives.
- Sponsorship and partnerships: Identify and develop sponsorship, exhibition and partnership opportunities that deliver value for members and generate income.
- Volunteer engagement: Work collaboratively with the volunteer network, supporting Area representatives and the Events Committee to deliver successful events.
- Continuous improvement: Use data, feedback and insights to evaluate performance, identify opportunities and improve activities.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who's equally comfortable planning and delivering successful events as they are creating engaging marketing campaigns. You'll have hands-on experience across both areas, enjoy building relationships and be confident juggling different priorities.
You'll bring:
- Experience of planning and delivering events, including larger-scale events.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content.
- Experience of marketing campaigns and an understanding of digital marketing channels.
- Confidence working with budgets, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and the confidence to take ownership of projects.
Experience of working with volunteers, professional membership organisations or the water sector would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
Why join the Institute of Water?
The Institute of Water's values are Inclusive, Non-hierarchical, Supportive, Sociable and Sustainable. These values shape how the organisation works and how it supports its members.
You'll join a collaborative team where your ideas are valued, you'll have the opportunity to take responsibility for meaningful projects, and your work will directly contribute to the experience of members and the wider water sector.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on making things happen and wants to make a genuine impact.
