Financial Risk Operations Manager – 6-Month Contract

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global payments provider for a Financial Risk Operations Manager on a 6-month contract. This is a key opportunity to join a newly created Financial Risk and Fraud function, playing a foundational role in building out critical processes and controls.

The Role

You will help establish and manage core financial risk and fraud processes, ensuring the organisation and its clients are protected against financial exposure. This hands-on role involves transaction monitoring, dispute management, and cross-functional collaboration, as well as managing a small team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build dashboards and reports for daily monitoring of chargebacks, disputes, refunds, and transaction volumes, setting thresholds for alerts and escalations.
• Lead and enhance dispute management processes, working closely with product teams on portal improvements.
• Assess and manage customer liability, including settlement timing, chargeback/refund exposure, and mitigation tools such as delayed settlement or holdbacks.
• Oversee incident and risk escalations related to safeguarding, fraud, or financial exposure, coordinating stakeholders to resolution.
• Partner with Account Management, Product, Treasury, Customer Funds, and Customer Support to mitigate financial losses.
• Manage and coach a team of two analysts.
• Continuously review and strengthen financial risk and fraud controls.

What We\’re Looking For

• Strong background in financial risk, payments, and fraud prevention, with hands-on experience in transaction monitoring, dispute management, or liquidity/risk evaluation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across functions and levels.
• Highly analytical and organised, with a proactive mindset and sense of urgency.
• English fluency (Portuguese an advantage).
• Willingness to travel monthly to São Paulo.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python, Google BigQuery, and Looker Studio desirable.
