Contract Manager – Civil Engineering & Earthworks – North West
Our client, a civil engineering & earthworks contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to join their expanding team to work on projects throughout the North West. Project value ranges from ÂŁ2m to ÂŁ10m working across civil engineering, earthworks and remediation projects both as main contractor and sub-contractor.
Contracts Manager Responsibilities:
* Manage works across civil engineering, earthworks and remediation projects both as main contractor and sub-contractor
* Responsibility from both a commercial and contractual standpoint including managing budget, costings, variations, forecasting etc
* Ensure contracts run to schedule and to budget
* Ensure works are completed to the highest level of quality and in line with Company procedures.
* Upfront planning and mobilisation in advance of works commencing on site.
* Input into Resource Management including “look ahead” programmes, material scheduling, plant and labour forecasting and progress on site is regularly benchmarked against target programme.
* Effective man management of site staff / motivating workforce to meet project deadlines and targets.
* Client liaison – promote a positive client interface ensuring that our clients maintain the highest level of confidence with the Company.
Contracts Manager Requirements:
* Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent)
* Must have a working knowledge of the MCHW (white book)
* Have an appreciation for the machinations of Series 600 of the MCHW vis a vis the testing requirements/methods and geotechnical properties of soils (basic soil mechanics)
* Experience in self-delivering works
* Programming capabilities
* Cost management and cost forecasting skills
* Capable of managing multi-disciplinary teams on a number of concurrent projects
* Self-starters capable of working under their own steam and not afraid to push the boundaries of ideas and new technologies to save time and cost
* Contract savvy
* Problem solving
* Health and safety and quality focused
