Due to sustained growth in our project pipeline, we’re creating a new senior technical role to support our Project Management and Architecture teams. This isn’t traditional "architectural technology"—it’s a hybrid position requiring building surveying capability, technical drawing expertise, and the commercial awareness to work on high‑value luxury retail projects. You’ll be the technical backbone supporting our PMs on site surveys, feasibility studies, snagging coordination, and contract administration tasks—freeing our architects to design and our PMs to manage.

About ML Projects

ML Projects is a London‑based architectural project management practice specialising exclusively in high‑end luxury retail fit‑outs for prestigious brands across the UK and Europe. We manage the complete journey from concept through to store opening, delivering exceptional retail spaces through expert coordination of design development, regulatory approvals, construction delivery, and seamless client handovers. Founded on principles of professional integrity and teamwork, we take pride in bringing our clients’ creative visions to life through exceptional project management and execution. Our inclusive culture fosters an environment where professionals can thrive and develop their skills as part of close‑knit project teams working on flagship stores, shopping malls, boutiques, and innovative retail concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Survey & Feasibility Work (60% of role)
    • Undertake measured surveys of existing retail units (UK & occasional EMEA travel)
    • Produce accurate CAD/Revit as‑built drawings to support feasibility studies
    • Conduct building condition surveys and identify existing constraints
    • Prepare technical feasibility reports for Project Managers
    • Liaise with M&E consultants, structural engineers, and building control
  • Snagging & Defects Management (25%)
    • Conduct pre‑handover snagging inspections on completed fit‑outs
    • Prepare detailed snagging schedules and photographic records
    • Coordinate with contractors and PMs on remedial works
    • Maintain defects registers through to practical completion
  • Contract Administration Support (15%)
    • Assist PMs with technical aspects of contract administration
    • Review contractor submissions, materials samples, and shop drawings
    • Support with specification preparation and NBS documentation
    • Verify site dimensions and installation tolerances on luxury millwork
    • Attend site meetings when technical expertise required
  • Process & Systems Management
    • Maintain project trackers with accuracy, ensuring they reflect real‑time project status
    • Ensure project documentation integrity, accessibility, and compliance with filing protocols
    • Implement efficient communication protocols and coordinate information flow

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 8‑15 years experience as Architectural Technologist or Building Surveyor
  • Strong CAD capability (AutoCAD essential, Revit advantageous)
  • Measured survey experience – you’ve been on site with a laser measure hundreds of times
  • Commercial or retail project background (high‑end retail ideal but not essential)
  • Practical building knowledge – you understand construction, not just drawings
  • Meticulous attention to detail – luxury brands notice every millimeter
  • Full UK driving licence – you’ll be visiting sites across London and occasionally further afield
  • Right to work in UK – we cannot sponsor visas for this role

Highly Desirable

  • CIAT membership (Chartered Architectural Technologist) or working towards it
  • Experience with listed buildings, conservation areas, or Westminster planning
  • Understanding of Building Regulations, CDM, and contract documentation
  • Previous exposure to JCT contracts (Minor Works, D&B)
  • Some quantity surveying or cost awareness
