Main Purpose:

To generate profitable Tool Hire business by building relationships with customers both face-to-face and via the telephone to achieve maximum sales, whilst ensuring the effective and efficient running of Tool Hire. Promote MKM as the merchant of choice within your geographical area. Note: This role involves weekend working.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales & Service: Build and maintain profitable customer relationships, resolve complaints, prepare customer orders, and ensure safe loading and unloading. Ensure on-hire deliveries are efficient and process sales orders and delivery schedules accurately and promptly.
  2. Operational Compliance: Support all company initiatives, follow plans to improve customer experience, and understand local market issues to support sales growth.
  3. Stock Management: Manage purchasing of spare parts, conduct stock takes, and recommend stock purchases based on product mix and local needs.
  4. Health & Safety: Ensure all staff are trained annually, cascade health & safety training, operate within safety guidelines, run fire drills, and maintain a clean, safe hire area.
  5. People Management: Supervise team performance, develop a safety and wellbeing culture, embed company principles, develop a performance culture, and communicate company goals and individual objectives.

Product Knowledge & Skills:

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, regulations, marketplace trends, and future opportunities. Essential skills include a full, clean driving license, understanding of health & safety legislation, customer service focus, relationship building, good organizational skills, and flexibility. Desirable skills include GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English, relevant forklift license, and experience in sales/customer-focused roles.
