Purpose of role
The primary purpose of this role is to support the digital and ecommerce team in their mission to improve their online product offering and enhance their merchandising capabilities and fast track our enrichment of our current portfolio of products online.
Key responsibilities
- Working through current product data using excel to improve and enrich the data.
- Working collaboratively with internal procurement teams to source product information.
- Support the branch network to ensure their best-selling lines are online to trade.
- Building relationships externally with MKM’s supply base to improve product information.
- Represent our company in a professional and passionate manner when engaging with brand partners and suppliers.
- Sourcing product information and imagery from suppliers via meetings and email.
- Working with 3rd party organizations to fast-track product enrichment.
- Creating business updates on progress of products live on the website.
- Collating product information into a spreadsheet.
- Carry out the manual upload process as required.
- Optimising product imagery working with marketing and digital teams.
- Monitor the 'Web Support' Inbox: Respond to queries and issues from branches and customers in a timely manner.
- Track and Log Web Support Queries: Record customer issues, understand root causes, and document solutions.
- Collaborate Across Departments: Build strong working relationships with other teams to resolve customer issues efficiently.
- Monitor the 'Digital Alerts' Inbox: Take appropriate action in response to system alerts.
- Participate in Scrum Ceremonies: Attend stand-up meetings and follow up on assigned actions.
Training and ongoing support will be provided.
Desired skills, knowledge and capabilities:
- Ability to foster strong relationships – MKM is a business built on the branch network and its people it will be vital you are able to build relationships internally with a “can do approach”.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you will be required to send a lot of emails and speak with suppliers over the phone as you make requests for high quality product data.
- Good attention to detail – the role involves reviewing rows of data held within large spreadsheets and checking them for spelling and grammatical errors – correcting and reformatting to strict guidelines where necessary.
- Fantastic copy-writing skills – Bringing what are arguably “boring” product descriptions to life. Can you write a product description in a way that convinces someone they should buy our bag of sand instead of someone else’s? – If so, we need you on our team!
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel for managing large volumes of data – all of the data we work with is reviewed and managed from within Excel Spreadsheets – so a reasonable level of confidence with this tool is essential.
- Basic knowledge of digital imagery – Ideally you will know the differences between a .JPG and .PNG and where it is appropriate to use each as well as possess a basic understanding of digital image resolutions (high resolution vs. low).
- Most important… a willingness to learn – As a member of the MKM Digital Team, you’ll find a supportive and empathetic environment where no-one is put down for not understanding something or requiring further guidance.
