We are currently recruiting for an experienced MEP Lead to join the delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Northumberland. This is an opportunity to take a senior MEP delivery role on a large-scale, technically complex mission-critical project with a leading international main contractor, overseeing the coordination and delivery of mechanical and electrical packages through construction, commissioning and final handover.
As MEP Lead, you will take overall responsibility for the mechanical and electrical delivery of the project, working closely with the project leadership team, specialist subcontractors, design teams and commissioning teams to ensure the MEP installation is delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of mechanical and electrical packages across the project.
- Managing and coordinating MEP subcontractors, package managers and engineering teams.
- Overseeing the MEP programme and ensuring works are delivered in line with key project milestones.
- Managing interfaces between mechanical, electrical, CSA and specialist systems.
- Working closely with the design team to resolve technical and coordination issues.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, technical submissions and installation requirements.
- Monitoring subcontractor performance across safety, quality, programme and productivity.
- Identifying potential programme and technical risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Ensuring MEP installations comply with approved designs, specifications and client requirements.
- Coordinating with the QA/QC team to ensure inspections, testing and documentation are completed correctly.
- Working closely with the commissioning team to ensure a smooth transition from construction through testing and commissioning.
- Driving snagging, system completion and final handover activities.
- Providing regular progress updates to the Project Director and senior project leadership team.
We are looking for an experienced MEP professional with a strong track record of delivering complex mechanical and electrical packages on major construction projects. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience as an MEP Lead, MEP Manager, Building Services Manager or similar senior MEP position.
- Experience working for a major main contractor or specialist MEP contractor.
- Experience delivering data centres, mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or similarly complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of both mechanical and electrical building services.
- Experience managing large-value MEP packages and specialist subcontractors.
- A strong understanding of MEP design coordination, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Experience managing interfaces between MEP and CSA packages.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to drive delivery in a fast-paced and technically demanding construction environment.
- Experience taking major projects through construction, commissioning and final handover.
Previous hyperscale data centre experience would be highly advantageous.
