MK-Search & Selection are supporting a leading main contractor with a £1bn turnover and a strong presence delivering across the commercial, residential, pharmaceutical and data centre sectors. They require a Business Intelligence Analyst to play a key role in transforming business data into actionable insights. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly analytical individual with strong Power BI, Excel and data modelling expertise to join a business that is investing heavily in data-driven decision making. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across multiple departments, developing dashboards, reports and analytical solutions that support operational performance, commercial decision-making and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Extract, cleanse and transform data from multiple sources using Power Query and related tools.
  • Create and maintain robust data models to support reporting and business intelligence requirements.
  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Produce meaningful KPIs and performance metrics for business stakeholders.
  • Work with operational and commercial teams to understand reporting requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
  • Improve reporting processes through automation and optimisation.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency and governance across reporting platforms.
  • Support the ongoing development of the organisation's BI and data strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst or Reporting Analyst role.
  • Advanced Power BI skills, including dashboard development, DAX and data visualisation best practices.
  • Strong Power Query and ETL experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience building and maintaining data models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with multiple data sources and integrating business data into meaningful reporting solutions.
  • Knowledge of SQL would be advantageous.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing or project-based environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
