Role Description
This is a full‑time Civil Litigation Solicitor role based in Plymouth with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing some work from home.
The role involves managing a caseload of civil litigation matters, including advising clients, drafting legal documents, and preparing cases for negotiation, mediation, or court proceedings.
Day‑to‑day tasks include assessing claims, conducting legal research, corresponding with clients and third parties, and working with colleagues to develop case strategies.
The solicitor will attend client meetings, hearings, and settlement discussions as required, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm standards.
The position also involves contributing to business development activities and maintaining accurate case records and billing.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in civil law, including experience handling a range of contentious matters, particularly where civil litigation or dispute resolution is involved.
- Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with appropriate practising certification and experience in civil litigation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting pleadings, opinions, and correspondence.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
- Commitment to ethical practice, client confidentiality, and inclusive, non‑discriminatory conduct.
- Experience in a law firm or in‑house legal setting, particularly within civil litigation, is highly beneficial.
