We are seeking a talented and motivated Urban Designer to join our growing team, working on the design and layout of high-quality residential developments. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping sustainable, attractive communities for a leading housebuilder.
You will be responsible for producing creative and practical site layouts that maximise land value while meeting planning, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare residential site layouts and masterplans from concept through to detailed design
- Work closely with land, planning, and technical teams to optimise development potential
- Produce high-quality drawings using CAD and design software
- Ensure layouts comply with local authority planning policies and design standards
- Contribute to planning applications, design statements, and supporting documents
- Liaise with external consultants, architects, and local authorities
- Assist in developing innovative and sustainable design solutions
- Support the delivery of projects from acquisition stage through to construction
- Previous experience as an Urban Designer / Layout Designer within a housebuilding, consultancy, or planning environment
- Strong understanding of residential development layouts and placemaking principles
- Proficient in AutoCAD (experience with other design software beneficial)
- Knowledge of UK planning policy and design guidance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
