MK College Group have an exciting new opportunity for a creative P&D Lecturer to join the team based at HMP Rochester, with the possibility of also working at the adjacent HMP Cookham Wood on occasion. The recent merger of the two sites has created this role within our dynamic and innovative team and there really is no better time to join us.

As a P&D Lecturer, you will be actively engaging prison-based learners through the delivery of creative classes and engaging resources. You will be teaching a P&D course that introduces learners to a range of techniques and skills that help them take their next steps towards a career in construction. You will teach the fundamentals of P&D and related trade skills to enthuse learners and grow their confidence in using basic tools and techniques required to work within the trade upon release.

Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities and they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful P&D Teacher, you will truly inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience that can make a difference, not only within their present situation, but also in the future. This role will involve working with learners from all backgrounds within a workshop environment.

You will be connecting with learners in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to achieve success through not only qualifications, but developing the confidence and softer skills that they can apply to employment as well as other areas of education. We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consists of 8 learners, and the sessions are approximately 2.5 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative.
