The Opportunity
Our client is a leading mechanical building services contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering prestigious commercial fit-out projects across London. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to oversee a large mechanical fit-out project based in Canary Wharf. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor working on a flagship commercial development, taking ownership of the mechanical installation from site mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
The Role
As Mechanical Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all mechanical works on a large commercial fit-out project, ensuring the installation is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all mechanical installation activities on site.
- Supervise mechanical subcontractors and direct labour.
- Ensure works are carried out in line with drawings, specifications and project programme.
- Monitor progress and report regularly to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate mechanical activities with other trades and the principal contractor.
- Plan labour, materials and site resources to maintain programme.
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure installations meet project standards.
- Lead site health & safety, conducting toolbox talks and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
- Review drawings, RFIs and technical documentation.
- Attend client, consultant and subcontractor meetings.
- Manage commissioning activities and support the successful handover of the project.
- Resolve technical and installation issues efficiently to minimise programme delays.
- Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and quality documentation.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Site Manager delivering large commercial mechanical fit-out projects.
- Strong background within mechanical building services.
- Experience managing projects from installation through to commissioning and handover.
- Excellent knowledge of HVAC systems, LTHW & CHW pipework, plant rooms, ventilation systems, public health services, FCUs & AHUs.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and coordinate with other trades.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Experience working with leading M&E contractors or Tier 1 contractors is advantageous.
- SMSTS essential.
- CSCS Card essential.
- First Aid qualification desirable.
