MJM are seeking a Systems Safety Expert to join our team in London - Heathrow, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our airport and parcel projects. With a focus on machinery safety, you will work alongside a talented team to review and guide the design safety of material handling systems throughout their lifecycle.
In this role, you will use your deep technical knowledge to support various project teams, ensuring the highest safety standards are met. Your expertise will be vital in identifying risks, managing non-compliance, and advising both internal teams and customers on machine safety and legislative compliance.
Key Responsibilities:- Safety Culture: Champion and lead a safety-first culture throughout all project phases.
- Design Safety: Guide multiple project teams, both internal and external, in delivering safe and compliant system design solutions.
- Risk Management: Identify design safety uncertainties through effective risk analysis and execute site inspections.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee design safety from the tendering and sales phase through to installation, commissioning, and decommissioning.
- Compliance: Audit system designs to ensure CE/UKCA compliance and assist with machine safety legislative compliance.
- Customer Interaction: Serve as a trusted partner to customers, offering expert advice on machinery safety and legislative standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Foster technical and professional development within the team, sharing lessons learned across projects and products.
- Qualifications: BSc/MSc in an Engineering field.
- Experience: Prior experience in a similar role, with knowledge of machine safety standards (EN 619; ISO 13850).
- Certifications: CMSE (Certified Machine Safety Expert) or equivalent.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with electrical safety, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671), and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998).
- Industry Expertise: Proven track record in material handling systems (airport baggage handling or parcel systems experience is a plus).
- Customer Engagement: Experience in customer-facing roles such as workshops, presentations, or advisory sessions.
