About the Role
We are seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to join a long-term project based at Heathrow Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical airport infrastructure, delivering PLC programming, commissioning, maintenance, and system improvements within a highly regulated operational environment.
This is a contract position offering up to three years of work, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain PLC software.
- Diagnose and resolve PLC and control system faults.
- Commission and test PLC-controlled systems.
- Support planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns.
- Produce and update technical documentation.
- Work closely with electrical, mechanical and project engineering teams.
- Ensure all work complies with airport safety procedures and industry standards.
- Support system upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a PLC Engineer within industrial, manufacturing, automation, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding.
- Experience with one or more PLC platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Security Clearance Requirements
- Due to the location of this role, candidates must be eligible to obtain an Airside Pass. This requires:
- A minimum of five years' checkable work, and address history.
- The right to work in the UK.
- Successful completion of airport security vetting.
