About the Role

We are seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to join a long-term project based at Heathrow Airport. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical airport infrastructure, delivering PLC programming, commissioning, maintenance, and system improvements within a highly regulated operational environment.

This is a contract position offering up to three years of work, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC software.
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC and control system faults.
  • Commission and test PLC-controlled systems.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns.
  • Produce and update technical documentation.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical and project engineering teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with airport safety procedures and industry standards.
  • Support system upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a PLC Engineer within industrial, manufacturing, automation, or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding.
  • Experience with one or more PLC platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Due to the location of this role, candidates must be eligible to obtain an Airside Pass. This requires:
  • A minimum of five years' checkable work, and address history.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Successful completion of airport security vetting.
