- About MJM Industrial
MJM Industrial is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Estimator to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in industrial maintenance, fit-out, M&E, civils or infrastructure works who can confidently assess site requirements and produce accurate, competitive estimates.
We are looking for someone who understands the realities of working on site, can interpret both detailed and general scopes of work, and has the practical experience to identify what is required to deliver a job safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
The Role
As an Estimator at MJM Industrial, you will be responsible for reviewing project requirements, assessing site-based works, and preparing estimates across a variety of industrial projects and maintenance activities.
You will need to be comfortable working from both clearly defined scopes and less detailed briefs, using your experience and judgement to identify the labour, materials, plant, equipment, and resources required to complete the works.
The role would suit an Estimator with experience in fabrication, fit-out, facilities or general maintenance, M&E, civils, or infrastructure estimating, particularly someone who understands the practical challenges of delivering works in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- * Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for industrial projects, site works and general maintenance tasks.
- * Review, interpret and price detailed specifications, tender documents, manual scopes of work and site requirements.
- * Assess site-based works and develop realistic estimates based on the actual scope and practical delivery requirements.
- * Estimate works covering fit-out, mechanical and electrical (M&E), civil engineering, fabrication, and general industrial maintenance.
- * Identify labour requirements, materials, plant, equipment, subcontractor costs, and associated project expenses.
- * Identify potential risks, exclusions, assumptions, and additional works that may affect project costs.
- * Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify requirements and obtain competitive pricing.
- * Carry out site visits where required to assess work, validate scope and support the estimating process.
- * Support tender submissions and provide clear, well-structured cost breakdowns.
- * Work closely with operational and project teams to ensure estimates reflect the practical realities of delivering work on site.
About You
We are looking for someone who has
- * Previous experience in an Estimator role within an industrial, construction, engineering, maintenance, or infrastructure environment.
- * Experience estimating fit-out, M&E, civils, and/or general maintenance works.
- * The ability to interpret scopes of work, specifications, and drawings, and translate them into accurate cost estimates.
- * Practical experience assessing site works and understanding what is required to complete a job.
- * The ability to estimate from both detailed documentation and less defined or manually prepared scopes.
- * A good understanding of labour, materials, plant, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- * Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and organisational skills.
- * The confidence to challenge unclear scopes, identify gaps and ask the right questions.
- * Good communication skills and the ability to work with clients, suppliers, and operational teams.
Who Would Suit This Role?
- This opportunity would particularly suit an Estimator coming from a background in:
- * Industrial fabrication and associated site works.
- * Commercial or industrial fit-out.
- * Mechanical and electrical installation and maintenance.
- * Civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- * Facilities management and general industrial maintenance.
We are particularly interested in candidates who combine estimating experience with a practical understanding of site-based delivery.
You do not need to come from one specific trade background, provided you can demonstrate relevant estimating experience and the ability to assess a broad range of industrial works.
Why Join MJM Industrial?
This is an opportunity to bring your estimating knowledge and practical experience into a varied industrial environment, working across different types of projects and maintenance requirements.
You will play an important role in helping MJM Industrial develop accurate, commercially sound estimates, and support the successful delivery of our work.
