We are urgently seeking applications from freelance construction Project Managers to immediately assist with a portfolio of existing projects across a well-respected School Academies client in London.

Role: To assist their in-house estates team including 3 FM’s. Initial Temp role (until October 2026 - but likely moving to a perm opportunity). Initial day rate £(Apply online only) (LTD) per day. Reporting to Head of Estates. Immediate appointment - 4 / 5 days per week (Flexible).

Pertinent details:

  • Managing several projects (up to 10-12) across my clients’ London portfolio – alongside in house FM’s (in addition, a developing pipeline of 3 / 4 large capital projects for new academies on 3-5 year programs).
  • A dedicated Building Surveying consultant is assigned on each existing project - also acting contract administrator.
  • The PM will principally act as the clients representative - Managing and reporting works on site.
  • Procurement by open / closed tender (via the dedicated building surveyors) but PM acting as part of the process in advisory capacity only.
  • Site visits once a week / fortnightly…London (inside M25).
  • Close liaison with head teachers / other senior stakeholders.
  • No budget approval responsibility with the role – but subject to an efficient approvals process.
  • Projects are varied from M&E services upgrades & replacement, decarbonisation work, replacement works, developing ancillary nurseries – projects £20k - 700k but capital new build projects can be up to £30m.
  • JCT D&B contracts.
  • 3 office days, in a south London HQ and two WFH (work from home).

Those willing to apply, must haves:

  • BSc or MSc in Surveying, Project Management, Construction management or Architecture or similar.
  • MAPM, MRICS – desirable but not essential.
  • A recent & proven track record of capital construction or PPM projects within schools / universities / academies (JCT contractual knowledge).
  • Larger capital projects experience (ideally).
  • Consultancy side and / or relevant client-side background.
  • Good client management skills (as 1st point of contact).
  • London based (within M25).
  • Car owner & car driver.
  • British or European passport holder with full UK right to work / suitable eligible work VISA.
