Assistant Project Manager (x2) – London & Milton Keynes based

Our clients are both corporate & privately owned practices with long histories of delivering notable construction projects throughout the UK and overseas. As an Assistant Project Manager, you can expect to become involved in various sectors including private bespoke residential, industrial property, education, hospitality and/or commercial office sectors, projects ranging from £1-50m.

We have recruited for these practices within the last 3 months and because of continued project demands, there’s now a further opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join their respective teams. The successful candidate can expect to be directly involved in heavy refurbishment/cut & carve/fit-out schemes (JCT) for corporate clients as well as private exclusive addresses in Central London, often in listed buildings.

Typical duties include:

  1. Supporting the establishment of project brief and agreement of project execution plan.
  2. Selection/appointment of consultants/contractors.
  3. Design and programme management.
  4. Risk and value management strategies.
  5. Change management.
  6. Regular progress reports.
  7. Project completion audit and management of defects period.

Other requirements include:

  1. Developing successful professional relationships with clients.
  2. Demonstrable ability to manage & lead smaller projects.
  3. Support project tasks as part of a wider team on larger projects, £20m +.
  4. Attending/chairing/minuting specific client review meetings, design meetings, cost and procurement meetings, and general project meetings.
  5. Understanding and promoting sustainability briefs and Health & Safety Policies.
  6. Providing reports on actual and forecast expenditure against budgets.
  7. Supporting the preparation of programmes for monitoring purposes.
  8. Preparing and updating accurate internal and external project documentation.

Candidates wishing to apply must have:

  1. A foundation construction degree (BSc or MSc), preferably in either Surveying, Architecture or Construction Project Management.
  2. A minimum of 12-18 months post-graduation UK construction industry experience, preferably within a consultancy setting.
  3. Full UK working eligibility (our clients cannot support those requiring VISAs).
  4. Developing knowledge of the key principles of construction project management.
  5. Some understanding of project programmes and critical paths.
  6. Some experience with traditional JCT contracts.
  7. An enthusiastic, proactive, and client-facing character.
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  9. Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  10. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  11. Good MS Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  12. Car driver preferable (client cannot consider candidates seeking relocation).
