We are seeking a skilled HGV Commercial Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role is Monday - Friday and every other Saturday.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs)
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools, including ohmmeters
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as brakes, transmissions, engines, and electrical systems
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify root causes of vehicle malfunctions
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize repairs and maintenance schedules
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as Jaltest is preferred
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics effectively
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Valid technical certification or relevant qualifications in vehicle maintenance or mechanics is desirable
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
  • Commitment to safety standards and procedures
