Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Plant and Tooling Maintenance Technician works as part of a small, hands-on team responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, and preparing tooling and plant equipment. This includes items such as splicers, Honeywell test units, hydraulic power packs, breakers, saws, and confined space entry kits. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing basic repairs, completing safety checks, and ensuring that all equipment meets company standards before being issued to engineers.
Duties
- Inspect, test, and repair a variety of tools, splicers, and plant equipment.
- Prepare and issue equipment kits for engineer deployments (FTTP, copper, civils, and recovery).
- Carry out PAT testing, calibration, and functional checks on all equipment.
- Diagnose faults and complete basic mechanical or electrical repairs.
- Quarantine and process faulty or damaged items, sending away for external repair where necessary.
- Keep accurate maintenance, testing, and asset records.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
- Support deployment and logistics teams to ensure smooth engineer kit preparation.
- Work flexibly to meet changing day-to-day workshop requirements.
- Always follow all company health and safety procedures.

- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- PAT Testing or small plant inspection training β advantageous but can be provided.
- Health & Safety and Manual Handling training (provided by company).
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development
