Overview

As part of our partnership with Openreach, which operates the UK’s largest fibre broadband network, we are committed to delivering quarterly target homes passed (THP) in numerous areas. The Planner plays a vital role in this process by allocating, scheduling, and issuing jobs to suppliers. This position involves closely monitoring the progress of works to ensure they are completed within agreed timescales, enabling the wider team to effectively plan and deliver on project targets. The Planner is essential in helping MJQ contribute to expanding broadband access to thousands of homes each year.

Responsibilities

  • Accept job orders and allocate them to the necessary suppliers, scheduling all works.
  • Liaise with the client regarding queries surrounding jobs.
  • Ensure that delivery forecast trackers and documents are kept up to date daily.
  • Liaise with other departments within MJQ to discuss additional requirements such as Traffic Management, Commercial and Streetworks teams.
  • Assist with the closing down of jobs once works have been completed.

Experience and Skills

  • Computer literate – experience of working with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience of working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, ensuring deadlines are met and managing business expectations.
