Department Overview
The Asset Management department is a key part of the Logistics function, a shared service for the MJ Quinn Telecoms and Energy divisions. The department ensures that testing equipment and assets for use by in‑field engineers are fit for purpose and compliant with relevant regulations. The department consists of two main areas: an Audit team, responsible for in-field auditing of engineers and their equipment, and the Service Centre Tooling Workshop, responsible for the testing, maintenance, repair, and calibration of equipment.
Job Objective
The Equipment & PPE Inspector Supervisor is responsible for leading, coaching, and performance‑managing a team of field-based Asset & PPE Inspectors. The role ensures inspectors operate safely, consistently, and in full compliance with regulatory and company standards. You will carry out structured 6‑monthly safety checks on each inspector, provide ongoing coaching and development, and manage performance to achieve high‑quality inspection outcomes and a strong safety culture across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of Equipment & PPE Inspectors in a field-based environment
- Carry out formal 6-monthly safety checks on each inspector, assessing safe working practices, competence, and compliance
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to inspectors to drive continuous improvement
- Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, and development discussions
- Manage individual and team performance against agreed KPIs, quality standards, and compliance requirements
- Identify and address performance issues promptly, implementing improvement plans where required
- Monitor inspection quality, audit outcomes, and completion rates
- Carry out supervisory audits and spot checks to ensure consistency and compliance
- Act as the escalation point for safety, compliance, or technical issues
- Ensure inspectors maintain required training, accreditations, and competencies
- Maintain accurate records of safety checks, coaching, and performance activity
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Health & Safety, Operations, and Logistics
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Experience supervising or leading field-based teams
- Strong understanding of safety, compliance, inspection, or auditing environments
- Proven experience in coaching individuals and managing performance
- Ability to address underperformance constructively and confidently
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities across a dispersed team
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Telecommunications industry experience
- Knowledge of Asset, PPE inspection, PAT testing, or calibration
- Health & Safety or auditing qualifications
