About the Opportunity

MJ Quinn has been established for over 40 years and operates nationwide, delivering critical infrastructure that connects communities across the UK. We are now looking for Trainee FTTP Network Engineers to join us on a self‑employed basis, with no previous telecoms experience required. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the telecommunications industry. You will receive full training through the MJ Quinn Academy, where you’ll gain the skills, knowledge, and accreditations required to work on Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) installations. Upon successful completion of training, you will work in the field installing ultrafast broadband services to customer premises, supported by one of the UK’s most established infrastructure providers.

Training at MJ Quinn Academy

  • Structured training programme for new starters
  • Industry‑recognised FTTP knowledge and accreditations
  • Practical, hands‑on learning supported by experienced trainers
  • Ongoing support as you transition into field‑based work
  • All required PPE, an MJ Quinn‑branded vehicle, and the necessary tools and equipment will be provided once you are operational.

What You’ll Be Doing (After Training and Budding)

  • Accepting and managing jobs via a handheld device
  • Installing fibre cables from network distribution points to customer properties
  • Completing final connections inside customer homes
  • Working underground, internally, and at height where required
  • Climbing telegraph poles as part of network installation work
  • Testing fibre services using handheld testing equipment
  • Ensuring work areas are left clean, safe, and tidy
  • Delivering excellent customer service at every stage
  • Working safely and responsibly in line with MJ Quinn policies and values

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for motivated individuals with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months, with no more than 6 points
  • A clean criminal record
  • Physically fit, with the ability to work at height and climb telegraph poles (up to six times per day)
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Flexibility to travel nationwide (excluding the North West), including working away from home
  • Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and training guidelines
  • Basic Maths and English skills
  • No previous telecoms experience is required — full training will be provided.
