The Asset Management Workshop supports MJ Quinn’s operational teams by maintaining, repairing, and preparing tooling, plant, and equipment used across the business. The department ensures all assets are safe, compliant, and ready for deployment, helping to keep our nationwide operations running smoothly. The team carries out basic mechanical and electrical repairs, routine servicing, preventative maintenance, equipment testing, calibration, stock control, and asset tracking. Working closely with Operational Teams and Health & Safety, the workshop ensures all equipment meets the company’s quality and safety standards.
The Junior Plant & Tooling Maintenance Technician will support the workshop team in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a wide range of tools and plant equipment used within the Telecoms and Energy sectors. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to develop technical skills, gain hands‑on experience, and grow within a busy engineering workshop environment. You will assist experienced technicians, learn diagnostic and repair techniques, and contribute to maintaining equipment availability and reliability.
Key Roles and Responsibilities- Assist with basic fault‑finding, servicing, and repairs on a variety of tools and plant equipment, such as drills, saws, generators, and fibre‑optic tooling.
- Support with equipment inspections, cleaning, and refurbishment.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks under supervision.
- Learn and support with PAT testing and electrical safety checks (training provided).
- Help maintain accurate service and inspection records.
- Assist with stock control, equipment tracking, and workshop organisation.
- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with the workshop team and provide support to field engineers when required.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and training opportunities.
