About the Role
We’re looking for a knowledgeable, safety‑focused professional to join our Fleet Compliance team in a varied and hands‑on role. As a Driver and Trailer Assessor, you will play a key part in promoting safe driving practices, ensuring transport compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across our fleet operations. This is a multi-functional position involving driver assessments, behaviour monitoring, telematics installation, safety briefings, and compliance checks. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial, periodic, and reactive on-road driver assessments.
- Evaluate trailer operations including coupling/uncoupling, load safety, and defect checks.
- Provide coaching and feedback to improve safety, compliance, and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate assessment logs and training records.
- Analyse driver behaviour using telematics data (e.g., harsh braking, speeding, acceleration).
- Review dashcam footage to identify unsafe practices or incidents.
- Produce performance reports and deliver constructive feedback.
- Support safe driving initiatives and improvement plans.
- Install, configure, and maintain telematics and dashcam units across the fleet.
- Troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs when required.
- Ensure accurate documentation of installations and asset tracking.
- Liaise with external providers for technical support and system integration.
- Deliver regular Toolbox Talks on safety and compliance topics.
- Record attendance, gather feedback, and follow up on actions.
- Encourage driver engagement and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Carry out unannounced spot checks on driver walk-around inspections.
- Verify accuracy and completion of daily vehicle check logs.
- Address issues directly with drivers and escalate serious concerns.
- Support ongoing education on legal obligations and best practice.

Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in transport operations.
- Qualified Driver Assessor or Instructor.
- Strong understanding of UK transport regulations and fleet compliance.
- Practical experience with telematics systems and dashcam installation.
- Proven experience delivering Toolbox Talks or conducting audits.
- Valid UK driving licence.
