We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Civils Manager to oversee civil works in and around the Bristol area ensuring smooth coordination of cabling activities, ensuring they are completed on time. The Civils Manager will be responsible for securing necessary permits and scheduling activities promptly. This role will also involve providing feedback to the back office upon work completion and fostering strong relationships with local authorities. As the first point of contact for all digging operations on site, the Civils Manager will ensure that all tasks align with the companyβs values and objectives.
Job objective and responsibilities:
- Liaise directly with local authorities and build strong relationships.
- Liaise directly with civils suppliers, carrying out weekly meetings with them.
- Manage civils workload sent to suppliers and provide back office with permit dates.
- Ensure all works are completed on time safely, within the permit and to the correct quality standard to allow delivery dates to be met.
- Manage 2x field supervisors ensuring they are completing the required weekly safety checks.
- Conduct 2x weekly safety checks as Civils Manager.
- Attend meetings in the office with the team to visualise work volumes and provide required information relating to specific jobs.
- Carry out pre-site checks of works allocated to suppliers.
- Ensure all health and safety standards are met on all sites, reporting any near misses or incidents correctly.
- Deliver Openreach fibre broadband to around 100,000 THP in Bath and Bristol area.
- Build a good relationship with the client, suppliers, and public.
- Work safely at all times while building a good quality long-lasting network.
Experience and qualifications:
- Civils experience on the Openreach Network is a must.
- Telecoms experience is required.
- Knowledge of fibre build requirements is essential.
- Experience dealing with local authorities and permitting requirements is desirable.
- Supervisor NRSWA certification.
- SA002 certification is desirable.
