FIG is the Client Coverage and Origination team for Financial Institution clients offering the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial, high growth, high performing team, building out the FIG practice within a large global bank.
The role is to drive a key part of the overall FIG strategy with a focus on Alternative Investment Managers, delivering Financing and ancillary business to achieve long-term cross-platform relationships.
To operate as a Vice President within the FIG Coverage team, the job holder will need to:
- Proactively lead and participate in client relationship management and origination, within the Alternative Investment Managers vertical, as a Vice President working closely with the wider coverage team.
- Ensure appropriate return on capital and focus on risk as part of the optimisation of new and existing client relationships.
- Drive client engagement and business management activities such as client analysis, preparation of presentations and submissions to business and credit committees.
- Collaborate closely with key product partners and stakeholders across international offices and divisions of the bank to support cross sell with existing and new clients, including products such as Derivative Risk Solutions (FX, Rates, Deal Contingent), Structured Finance (Fund Finance, Repo, CLOs), Leverage Finance, Project Finance, M&A and Advisory Services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Vice President will have direct responsibility for the management and development of a portfolio of clients within the Alternative Investment Manager sector.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the key clients within the sector and use this understanding to effectively identify and originate business opportunities from existing and prospective clients.
- Preparation and delivery of effective client, internal and external materials including briefing papers and memos; client account plans; client relationship return models; high quality pitch books; financial analysis to support pitch books and credit applications for new transactions.
- Assist in the maintenance and input of client activity data and pipeline items into the Client Relationship Management system.
- Lead the coordination and execution of client transactions with the relevant internal product groups and business functions.
- Support the Managing Director, Head of European FIG, and Executive Director of Alternative Investment Managers, in overall business strategy and planning.
- Demonstrate strong application of credit risk judgement, acting as the first line of defence in terms of the Bank’s credit assessment, including proactive interaction with credit analyst team; analysis of client financial performance and assessment of risks and mitigants for key transactions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal decision makers including Credit, Product teams, and broader Management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Sector knowledge and experience of FIG / Alternative Investment Manager particularly fund finance and associated cross sell.
- Direct client coverage experience, preference for having run own client portfolio.
- Prior experience within a Corporate or Investment Bank in a client facing FIG role/team.
- Track record of achieving good client outcomes.
- Experience in monitoring and managing global credit lines.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, modelling knowledge and skills in corporate finance.
- Ability to interpret and analyse financial statements.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.
- Team orientated with excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge and application of external data sources.
- Self motivating with the ability to lead and inspire others to perform.
- Computer Literacy.
