Mizuho is recruiting a Head of Facilities Management (FM) to lead the strategic management of all FM functions, ensuring optimum accommodation and support service standards within FM guidelines and budgetary constraints.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • People Management
    • Motivate, develop and lead a high‑performing FM team.
    • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Prioritise demand to optimally utilise team skills.
    • Conduct staff appraisals and set deliverable objectives.
  • Service Provision
    • Deliver the full scope of FM services effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with building lease conditions and maintain a strong landlord relationship.
    • Manage third‑party suppliers, including engineering and soft services contractors.
    • Lead tender processes in line with procurement procedures, securing best‑value contracts.
    • Establish clear SLAs to support strategic and organisational objectives.
    • Serve as ambassador for projects, promoting best practice in project management and sustainability.
    • Oversee maintenance and development plans from routine PPM to major renewals.
    • Represent FM at executive and board meetings.
  • Financial Management
    • Develop, manage and deliver the annual facilities budget.
    • Maintain operational and capital budgets within set limits.
    • Analyse financial performance, comparing actuals to budget and managing outcomes.
    • Control and maintain asset‑management databases.
  • Corporate Real Estate Strategy
    • Formulate and implement real‑estate strategy.
    • Optimise space utilisation and lead cost‑control initiatives.
    • Plan and manage capital expenditure programmes.
    • Coordinate project delivery to schedule and budget, working with all stakeholders.
    • Advise senior management on space and office requirements.
  • Health & Safety
    • Oversee health and safety for the main office building and sub‑tenancies.
    • Ensure team and contractors comply with policies, procedures and regulations.
    • Conduct testing of emergency procedures and report findings at quarterly committees.
  • Services and Visual Standards
    • Maintain interior design standards and visual consistency.
    • Deliver services to defined service levels and sustain customer satisfaction.
  • Accommodation and Churn
    • Actively manage business accommodation, including all moves and churn.
    • Keep accurate records of space utilisation.
  • Business Continuity
    • Primary contact for security incidents and FM crisis control.
    • Manage the company’s business continuity site and related functions.
  • External Relations
    • Co‑ordinate with FM counterparts in other Mizuho entities.
    • Collaborate on major FM projects across locations.
    • Engage outsource providers, suppliers, regulatory bodies and insurance brokers.
    • Maintain relationships with sub‑tenants.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Deep experience in facilities and premises management in the UK and internationally.
  • Professional qualification in real estate and/or facilities management (RICS / IWFM) or equivalent.
  • Health & safety qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH) desirable.
  • Customer‑centric career experience.
  • Strategic understanding of corporate real estate.
  • Cost‑control experience at an organisational level.
  • Senior management experience with board‑level engagement.
  • Experience delivering large capital building projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, influential and collaborative across all levels.
  • Risk‑awareness and decisive response to delivery risks and issues.
  • Excellent communication – verbal and written – to diverse stakeholders.
