What is the opportunity? A role in the Rating Team, part of the C&MO Team within the European Corporate Finance Division 2 (ECBD2). They manage, monitor, and control the Department's corporate & leveraged finance ratings, ensuring timely preparation and submission of ratings for ECBD2 clients. This role primarily involves producing ratings using Mizuho's internal models and interfacing with the wider C&MO Team.

What will you be doing?

  • Producing timely and accurate credit ratings.
  • Analyzing to establish initial ratings of new transactions using audited accounts, financial due diligence, models, and commercial due diligence, in collaboration with Credit Analysts.
  • Monitoring credit risk and preparing annual and special reviews.
  • Identifying potential credit quality issues early.
  • Assisting with portfolio management and reporting duties, including day-to-day administration of clients within the Department's portfolio.
  • Ensuring compliance with the bank's rating manual and applying rating and customer categorization methodologies accurately.

What do you need to succeed?

Essential
  • Minimum 3 'A' Levels or equivalent.
  • At least two years' experience in a financial environment, preferably banking.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret company financial statements and discounted cash flow models.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Strong writing and communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and other departments.
  • Good teamwork and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of financial spreadsheets and accounting standards.
Desirable
  • Degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Skills in cash flow analysis and modeling.
  • Experience in a middle or back office role within a financial institution.
  • Proficiency with VBA, SQL, Python, or automation tools, with an innovative mindset.
  • Experience in automating workflows to improve efficiency.
