This role is for an Analyst position in the Sponsor Coverage & Leveraged Finance Department EMEA (SCLF) of Mizuho International plc., based in London. SCLF's remit is origination and execution of leveraged finance transactions, participation (during syndication) in selected leverage finance transactions arranged by other institutions as well as the support of asset management/portfolio management of Mizuho Bank and its managed account platform "Stratum". The team also executes infrastructure transactions pursued by its sponsor clients. The Origination Team is responsible for the coverage effort of private equity and institutional clients in Europe. The team's mandate is to lead arrange and execute leveraged finance transactions, pursuing an originate to distribute strategy, supplemented by institutional hold capacity for transactions and the ability to tap into net take capacity of the managed accounts run by the firm. The Origination Team is structured into two "verticals" which have responsibility each for certain geographical markets as well as dedicated sponsors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Associates, Vice Presidents and Directors in all aspects of their MLA origination, execution and portfolio responsibilities
  • Primary focus on financial modelling, credit papers, data research, pitch books, data room, due diligence, site visits
  • Support other parts of the SCLF business apart from Lead Arranging (i.e. JLA co-underwriting, portfolio) as required
  • Support and exchange experience with other team members

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • University Degree or equivalent
  • Banking or professional financial experience relevant to the European MBO or leveraged finance market
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Awareness of end clients needs and deadlines
  • Highly numerate and capable of building and using cash flow models
  • Basic to Intermediate level credit skills with exposure to some business sectors
  • Ability to remain calm and balanced under pressure
