Role Purpose: As a key member of the site Quality Team, this role has the responsibility to support the Food Safety & Quality requirements at Mizkan Euro Bury St Edmunds site. The Quality Team Member will proactively work with the relevant departments to support all the ME Quality System. This role will be responsible for ensuring all the required quality checks are completed on time and in full and effectively communicated, and escalated when required, to all relevant stakeholders. They must lead by example in embracing the two principles, which are to offer only the finest products and continuously challenge the status quo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily quality and product release checks, including taste panels, CDC and paperwork audits, production run releases, finished product releases and retained sample management.
  • Perform routine laboratory checks, daily equipment calibrations and troubleshooting, escalating any equipment or result issues as required.
  • Complete routine water testing, including daily bromine testing, monthly microbiological sample collection and review of results.
  • Attend daily Tier 2 meetings and weekly planning meetings, communicating quality, food safety and operational priorities effectively.
  • Log, investigate and support responses to customer complaints, supplier non-conformances and internal quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are followed up and closed.
  • Coordinate and support external testing programmes, including end-of-life, microbiological, nutritional, raw material challenge and annual proficiency testing.
  • Support the site calibration programme for scales, metal detectors, X-rays, magnets, temperature monitoring equipment and monthly temperature probe verification.
  • Complete HACCP, validation and verification activities, including X-ray and metal detector validations, inversion challenges, plaster validations and data logger validations.
  • Carry out scheduled GMP and GBP audits across production, warehouse, ingredient storage, yard, engineering, site services, canteen, hygiene facilities and production lines.
  • Review Certificates of Analysis for incoming materials, obtain and file annual supplier certificates, release raw materials on D365 and process supplier shelf-life extension requests.
  • Issue and maintain controlled documentation, manage Quality CDC system updates, complete label checks and create PPIs as required.
  • Maintain quality records and databases, including held stock entries, rework requests, traceability exercises, X-ray reject inspections and associated data entry.
  • Compile regular technical reports accurately and on time.
  • Train and sign off operators on all CCP and routine testing requirements, including pH, metal detector, inversion, labelling, acid, salt, and TSS testing.
  • Raise and process purchase orders as required and support wider Quality Team priorities, site compliance activities and contractor management where needed.
