We are excited to be recruiting a highly skilled Bakery Specialist to support our client a food manufacturing business based in Bedfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional within a similar industry.
About the Food Technician Role:
- As the Bakery Specialist, you will play a key part in developing, improving, and enhancing bakery products. You will be responsible for:
- Leading product development projects, including flavour improvement, texture optimisation and shelf-life extension
- Working hands-on within a lab and test kitchen environment
- Conducting trials, analysing results, and advising on formula adjustments
- Planning and preparing work in advance to ensure productive onsite days
- Supporting current product development and providing technical guidance
- Advising on food chemistry, ingredient functionality and baking processes
- Ensuring all developments align with quality, safety and commercial requirements
What Were Looking For In A Food Technician:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in bakery (artisan, industrial, or NPD-focused)
- Strong product development background
- Hands-on food chemistry knowledge
- Lab / test kitchen experience is essential
- Organised, proactive, and able to structure work effectively for limited onsite time
- Passionate about innovation and technical problem solving
- A collaborative professional who fits well within a supportive, family-style team culture
- Ensuring all development work aligns with BRCGS food safety and quality standards.
Contract Details
- £300 per day
- 2 days per month onsite in Luton
- Long-term contract opportunity
- Flexible working pattern with autonomy over planning and scheduling
