We're working exclusively with an established facilities maintenance and fire safety business operating across commercial property, education, aviation, local authority and wider property sectors. The business has a strong operational platform, established relationships with major clients and the capability to deliver complex maintenance, fire safety and compliance projects. The next stage of growth requires a senior sales leader to take ownership of the commercial strategy and build a structured, high-performing sales function.

The opportunity includes:

  • Working closely with the Managing Director to develop and lead the company's sales strategy.
  • Focusing heavily on new business while maximising opportunities within the existing client base.
  • Identifying target markets, developing relationships, building a sales process and creating a consistent approach to winning new business.
  • Inheriting an existing team and client base to build from.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing the company's sales and business development strategy.
  • Identifying and winning new commercial clients across target sectors.
  • Developing relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities within existing and previously active accounts.
  • Building and managing a structured sales pipeline.
  • Developing a consistent sales process from initial contact through to conversion.
  • Leading and developing the existing Account Management team.
  • Setting clear targets, KPIs and expectations across the sales function.
  • Working closely with the MD and wider leadership team on commercial strategy.
  • Supporting pricing, tender and framework opportunities.
  • Identifying new markets and opportunities for growth.
  • Helping build the sales infrastructure, processes and team required for the next stage of the business.

We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with genuine new-business ability. You'll be comfortable creating a plan, identifying opportunities and then getting out there and winning them. You'll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a senior sales or business development position.
  • A strong track record of winning new B2B business.
  • Experience managing and developing salespeople.
  • Experience working towards and owning commercial targets.
  • The ability to build relationships at senior level.
  • A consultative approach to business development rather than a transactional sales style.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to influence pricing and strategy.
  • Resilience, drive and the ability to operate with a high level of autonomy.

Experience within facilities management, building services, M&E, fire safety, construction, property services or another technical B2B environment would be highly advantageous. Experience of working with commercial property organisations, managing agents, local authorities, education, aviation or tier-one contractors would also be relevant.

This role will suit someone who wants to build rather than maintain. You may already be operating at Head of Sales or senior BDM level, or you could be a high-performing Business Development Manager or Commercial Manager ready to take ownership of a wider sales function. Perhaps you've reached the ceiling in your current business. Perhaps you've got the experience and ideas but not the autonomy to implement them. Or perhaps you're simply looking for a role where your success will have a visible impact on the direction of the business. If you're motivated by building something, winning business and seeing the results of your work, this could be a very good fit.
