Are you an experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer ready to take a leading role in complex multidisciplinary projects? Tetra Tech is looking for an Electrical Associate / Associate Director to join our growing Leeds team. This is an opportunity to combine technical excellence with project leadership while delivering innovative low‑carbon engineering solutions across sectors including defence, commercial, healthcare, education, industrial and retail.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As an Electrical Associate / Associate Director, you will provide technical and commercial leadership for building services engineering projects delivered from our Leeds office. You will oversee the development and delivery of electrical design solutions across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design and construction stages. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure designs meet client objectives, regulatory requirements and Tetra Tech quality standards. You will also support the performance and growth of the Leeds building services team, managing project delivery, coordinating technical outputs and contributing to business development through client engagement and bid activities.

Your Impact in this Position

In this role, you will influence how complex building services projects are designed and delivered. Your expertise will guide teams in developing efficient, sustainable electrical engineering solutions while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. By mentoring engineers and technicians, strengthening client relationships and contributing to new project opportunities, you will play a key role in the continued growth and technical capability of the Leeds engineering team.

Core Capabilities

  • Electrical Engineering Expertise – Lead electrical building services design across diverse sectors; apply strong knowledge of power, lighting, and building systems; integrate; ensure designs meet relevant technical standards and regulations.
  • Project & Commercial Management – Manage project delivery from concept through to completion; oversee budgets, resources and programme performance; maintain technical quality and compliance across engineering outputs.
  • Low‑Carbon & Sustainable Design – Develop energy‑efficient electrical systems aligned with net‑zero targets; support integration of renewable and low‑carbon technologies; promote sustainability within engineering design strategies.
  • Client Engagement & Business Development – Build trusted relationships with clients and project stakeholders; lead or contribute to bids, tenders and technical presentations; provide strategic engineering advice across project teams.
  • Leadership & Team Development – Mentor and develop engineers and technicians; promote collaboration across multidisciplinary teams; support the growth and capability of the Leeds engineering group.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

You will hold a degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer with a recognised professional body. You will have strong experience delivering electrical building services projects across multiple sectors and demonstrate expertise in digital design tools such as IES, Revit and Navisworks. A strong understanding of sustainable and low‑carbon engineering design, along with excellent communication and leadership skills, is essential.

Working Environment

This role is based in Leeds, within Tetra Tech’s multidisciplinary engineering hub. Flexible working arrangements are available, and travel may be required depending on project needs. Due to the nature of some projects, eligibility for UK security clearance (SC) is required. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace.
