Mitti Labs is a climate‐tech startup dedicated to transforming the rice industry by supporting smallholder farmers in adopting sustainable practices. Our mission is to bring AI and satellite technology into traditional rice farming, reducing methane emissions while improving farmer livelihoods. Backed by NASA‐supported science and a strong ecosystem of partners, we work with global corporations to help them achieve their net‐zero goals through verified, high‐quality carbon credits. Our initiatives include launching a 40,000 farmers project in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and reducing air pollution from stubble burning in Punjab. Our customers – including Fortune 500 companies and leading agri‐businesses – trust Mitti Labs to deliver measurable impact across climate, food systems, and sustainability. We are a team of 40+ data scientists, agronomists, engineers, and operators.

We are hiring a Head of Business Development to work directly with the C‐suite to grow Mitti Labs' global commercial footprint. You will lead the full sales cycle—building senior relationships, securing long‐term partnerships, and closing multi‐year carbon credit and insetting agreements. You will also bring market intelligence back into the business to shape our product, positioning, and GTM strategy. This is a high‐agency role for someone who thrives in early‐stage environments and wants to help build a market from the ground up. The role includes regular global travel for client meetings and industry events.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B sales, partnerships, business development, or strategy consulting—ideally in climate tech, carbon markets, sustainability, ag‐tech, nature‐based solutions.
  • Proven track record of closing large multi‐stakeholder deals. Resilient: you enjoy long sales cycles and remain proactive, thoughtful, and persistent.
  • Experience generating pipeline independently—you are comfortable sourcing, prospecting, and nurturing enterprise leads without heavy processes.
  • Strategic communicator with the ability to simplify technical concepts and build trust with C‐suite and VP‐level stakeholders. Experience representing an organization at industry conferences and events (including speaking engagements).
  • Experience in early‐stage environments, founder's associate roles, or commercial roles requiring ambiguity, adaptability, and rapid learning.

  • Existing network across sustainability leaders, carbon credit buyers, marketplaces, or climate investment funds.
  • Experience with enterprise sustainability procurement, Scope 1/2/3 strategy, or net‐zero roadmaps.
  • Work experience in agriculture, food systems, or supply‐chain industries.
