The role supports MUFG's strategic priorities by delivering clear, engaging communications that deepen and enhance understanding of regional strategy, builds trust with external stakeholders and strengthens MUFG's reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development and execution of the overall external communications strategy for EMEA as well as regional plans for target markets.
  • Deliver consistent and meaningful proactive media relations opportunities including interviews, events, background briefings.
  • Own all corporate social media activity including drafting, posting, monitoring and reporting as well as directing content and the strategy behind it.
  • Plan and execute strategy for senior leadership LinkedIn activity including drafting copy, liaising for sign‑off, monitoring and reporting.
  • Own media monitoring system, including managing the distribution of daily media clippings.
  • Manage all inbound media requests including crisis and issue responses.
  • Advise and support with potential and realised issues or crises and produce, where required, external communications output.
  • Play an active role in MUFG's crisis management process and act as silver team member.
  • Manage all external communications content including press releases, briefing documents, Q&A and reactive statements.
  • Support and advise the business on any change and issues management.
  • Liaise with colleagues globally – Group, Americas and Asia.
  • Manage regional agency relationships, reflecting business requirements and KPIs.
  • Manage flow of content in content planner, overseeing schedule and coordinating with global colleagues as required.
  • Oversee creation of regular reporting on external comms metrics, management risk frameworks and associated reporting.
  • Support Head of Corporate Communications – EMEA, with the CEO/executive agenda when required.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in corporate communications within large, complex organisations; financial or professional services preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver communications that drive clarity, alignment and engagement.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Extensive media handling skills and experience required.
  • Established relationships with EMEA financial media.
  • Crisis communications experience.
  • Comfortable engaging with and advising senior leaders; strong commercial awareness and diplomacy.
  • Track record at running corporate social media accounts, developing content, working to a strategy and developing audiences; must be an effective communicator with high attention to detail, capable of writing clearly and concisely across channels.
  • Ability to use sound judgement to gather, manage and impart information to external audiences consistent with MUFG's messages and positioning.
  • Excellent networker with an ability to get along with people.
  • Highly organised, self‑motivated and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong project management and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication planning skills.
  • Track record of developing talent.
