OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION
The Leveraged Finance Syndicate and Private Side Leveraged Loan Sales team is responsible for syndicating and executing institutional leveraged loans, bank debt, high yield bonds and private credit transactions. This includes both underwritten and best efforts transactions for sub-IG corporates and sponsor-owned clients across EMEA. The team is also responsible for investor coverage for distribution of leveraged loans and private credit to banks and institutional investors in primary and secondary. The team is part of MUFG’s Capital Markets platform.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
EMEA Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance Syndicate and Private Side Leveraged Loan Sales
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate action with respect to the Leveraged Finance Syndicate and Private Side Leveraged Loan Sales function, including:
- a) Technical Capability
- Provide support to senior team members to manage information flow and transaction process through its different stages from initial analysis, client pitches/offers to the execution strategy and completion phase.
- Collaborate with other MUFG distribution teams, other Syndicate teams globally and MUS to optimise financing solutions to meet client needs and roll out MUFG’s O&D strategy.
- Develop and maintain effective relationship with counterparts in other market-leading Syndicate teams to maximise market profile, origination opportunities as well as deal efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including 1LOD and 2LOD.
- Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network to ensure appropriate engagement and support to develop, secure and maximise product opportunities, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.
- Develop a practical understanding of all core systems and procedures within Capital Markets.
- Provide guidance and review work of more junior colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness including when preparing underwriting applications, deal screening support memos, comparable analysis as well as the production of high-quality market research on pricing, deal structures and investor activity as required for tailor-made client presentations and pitch-books.
- b) Relationship with other functions and stakeholders
- Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy.
- c) Regulatory Compliance, Affairs and Change
- You will manage the following matters with respect to internal systems and procedures, appropriate for above departments, including:
- Being accountable for evaluating, approving and establishing where necessary, appropriate operational and IT systems and controls to enable the Debt Capital Markets function to conduct its business in accordance with agreed business plans within the International Business.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential: Relevant and recent experience in Leveraged Finance Syndicate or Origination roles with an established international institution.
Preferred: Existing relationship with institutional investors active in the European Leveraged Finance market.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
Essential: Excellent knowledge of leveraged loans, high yield bond and private credit transactions. Demonstrated ability to lead transactions from idea generation to execution of mandates.
Preferred: Existing relationships with issuers, market participants and peers.
Education / Qualifications:
Essential: University degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Fluent English.
Preferred: Other European languages beneficial.
