This pivotal role sits within the Compliance division, reporting directly to the Global Data Privacy Officer, and offers you the opportunity to shape and deliver global privacy strategies across MUFG’s international operations. Play a key role in shaping global data privacy programmes, collaborating with stakeholders across Compliance, HR, Legal, and business units to ensure best-in-class governance and compliance. What you'll do:

  • Coordinate programme delivery across regions while maintaining control frameworks that support compliance with evolving regulations.
  • Deploy robust policies for safeguarding sensitive information; facilitate secure handling of personal data; develop frameworks for breach reporting; conduct vendor risk assessments; track legal developments; provide advisory services; monitor risk; escalate issues as needed; deliver training; support budget management; oversee quality assurance efforts; respond to audit reviews; analyse programme metrics; prepare reports for senior leaders; liaise with colleagues globally; respond to information requests from regulators or internal audit teams; support both Bank and Securities entities neutrally; escalate conflicts of interest where necessary.
  • Lead the execution of global privacy strategies while coordinating regional programme delivery to ensure consistent adherence to local and international regulations.
  • Oversee the deployment and standardisation of data protection policies and procedures designed to safeguard sensitive information across all MUFG entities.
  • Facilitate secure handling of personal data, financial records, and proprietary information by collaborating with teams throughout the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain frameworks for personal data management including registers, breach reporting protocols, data transfers, vendor risk assessments, privacy assessments, legal developments tracking, advisory services, monitoring activities, risk reporting, and escalation processes.
  • Monitor for potential breaches and consult on responses to regulatory inquiries to protect MUFG’s reputation and client interests.
  • Advise senior leadership on emerging privacy risks and regulatory trends while developing and delivering comprehensive global privacy training programmes.
  • Support management of privacy budgets, resource allocation decisions, and vendor relationships to optimise programme effectiveness.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews for privacy controls related to the Global Data Privacy framework ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Respond proactively to Audit requests and internal testing reviews by managing issues effectively and ensuring timely remediation.
  • Analyse privacy programme metrics periodically and prepare detailed reports for senior compliance leadership while facilitating liaison among global data privacy colleagues.

What you bring:

  • In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulatory frameworks gained through extensive experience in compliance or legal roles within financial services or regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated ability leading cross-functional privacy programmes with proven expertise in risk assessment, regulatory interpretation, compliance reporting, and project coordination.
  • Practical understanding of privacy-enhancing technologies coupled with strong analytical skills enabling you to anticipate evolving business needs and adjust priorities accordingly.
