The Head of Digital Workplace is accountable for defining and executing the Digital Workplace strategy, managing a multitude of digital workplace products to ensure MUFG business and end‑users receive cutting‑edge tools and technologies that enhance productivity, collaboration and agility. The role holder will collaborate with colleagues in EMEA and across the globe to transform the end‑user compute and endpoint strategy, modernise current collaboration tools and enhance the employee experience of the working environment.

The position leads the strategic direction, implementation, management and support of critical digital workplace products to optimise solutions including performance and associated costs whilst ensuring reliable and secure digital workplace platforms that meet the growing needs of a diverse workforce. The role holder works with the Head of Digital Engineering Services and Solutions Department Head to deliver transformation through a reliable, robust, sustainable, scalable and efficient operating model by leveraging best practices.

They are accountable for launching and promoting Digital Workplace offerings to MUFG business lines, owning and leading investment planning, measuring effectiveness, and managing cost, licensing and vendor relationships for cost efficiency, optimisation and ROI. This role is an integral part of the Digital Engineering Services and Solutions leadership team and the department’s evolution to bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern, agile, cloud‑based solutions while maintaining compliance and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and execute a comprehensive Digital Workplace strategy, defining objectives and aligning product implementations with employee needs and business goals.
  • Lead the vision and operations of the Digital Workplace function, enhancing strategic development of all related architecture, products and platforms while balancing innovation, stability and scalability.
  • Own and establish the technical Digital Workplace roadmap to enhance employee experience, productivity and security.
  • Provide leadership and subject‑matter expertise on Digital Workplace technologies and adoption across multiple regions and business lines, staying ahead of technological advancements.
  • Identify and lead innovation opportunities utilizing Digital Workplace technologies to support organisational goals, reduce legacy debt and risk, and enable efficient, cost‑effective AI adoption and application rationalisation.
  • Establish and lead Digital Workplace product ways of working and teams to support shift to reusable, standardised infrastructure services.
  • Own and manage the Digital Workplace platform budget, licensing and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain active relationships with EMEA Technology functions and business clients to fully deliver on business requirements.
  • Own design, development and day‑to‑day operation of digital workplace technologies, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, VDI (Citrix/Azure Virtual Desktop) and emerging technologies like GenAI.
  • Design, develop and support secure, reliable and modern end‑user computing solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and security standards.
  • Manage end‑to‑end lifecycle of all assigned Digital Workplace products, including product upgrades, technical debt reduction and adherence to best practice.
  • Act as Product Manager for Digital Workplace and productivity tools, approving new products and recommending removal of outdated offerings.
  • Lead the team of Digital Workplace professionals and engineers to oversee day‑to‑day operations, incident response and automation, reducing downtime and bottlenecks.
  • Ensure sufficient capacity for expected growth in all managed Digital Workplace products and maintain high availability, reliability and performance of Virtualisation Infrastructure.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms to measure and improve the human aspect of technology usage, and measure customer satisfaction levels.
  • Provide appropriate first, second and third‑line business support to end users, maintaining agreed service and operating level agreements.
  • Oversee health, performance and operational integrity of Digital Workplace products, and ensure accurate reporting of KPIs, KRIs across systems and tooling.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks within the Digital Workplace team, including regulatory and cyber‑risk compliance such as DORA assessments.
  • Lead large‑scale Digital Workplace implementations, ensuring quality, security and compliance, and define, document and execute on project scope, cost and timescale.
  • With EMEA Technology Risk, Security and Control, ensure all regulatory requirements are fully complied with and appropriate defences and controls are in place.
  • Lead and champion MUFG’s inclusive, diverse and values‑led culture, fostering a growth mindset and promoting collaboration across business units.
  • Manage performance, develop talent, identify key positions, and create sustainable success plans.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing positive change across the organisation.
  • Support location strategies prescribed from MUFG, enabling seamless transitions where appropriate.
