Operational Risk Management (ORM) supports the EMEA Chief Risk Officer in maintaining the effectiveness of the Operational Risk Management and Fraud Risk Management Frameworks across MUFG EMEA. The ORM team provides second‑line operational risk oversight, challenges control weaknesses, and ensures the business understands and applies the risk framework.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and delivery of the operational framework across EMEA.
  • Support the implementation of operational risk systems and the medium‑to‑long‑term operational risk objectives.
  • Provide robust second‑line challenge to the business, support functions, and EMEA offices.
  • Communicate the operational risk environment to management and key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with business and control owners to address control weaknesses proactively.
  • Challenge the business to provide evidence of appropriate risk identification, assessment, management, and reporting.
  • Supervise junior team members in second‑line oversight, BAU activities, and change initiatives.
  • Support initiatives to strengthen governance and develop a robust reporting mechanism for the business.
  • Ensure compliance with governance policies and procedures and evaluate operational risks of new products and change projects.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a good 3LoD model and embedding the risk culture across London and EMEA offices.
  • Independent assessment and monitoring of MUFG\’s operational risk profile, including incident management, KRI/KCI tracking, key control monitoring, and reporting to senior governance committees.
  • Remain up to date with regulatory changes and plan implementations as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of operational risk management within the financial services industry.
  • Experience in front‑to‑back RCSAs, risk acceptance, incident management, and action tracking.
  • Proven ability to understand, analyse, and communicate operational risks clearly.
  • Experience applying legal/regulatory guidance to solve practical problems.
  • Solid knowledge of internal rules, policies, and financial services processes.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, motivated, and able to perform under pressure.
  • Strong decision‑making skills and sound judgement.
  • Creative, innovative, and detail‑oriented with the ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines.
  • Preferred: experience with corporate, investment, transaction banking, and global markets products; regulatory risk knowledge; and familiarity with compliance partners.
