Global Corporate & Investment Banking ("GCIB") is the division responsible for managing the Bank's key international client relationships and main financing products (DCM Loans & Bonds, Structured & Project Finance, Securitisation, Working Capital Solutions, FX and IR derivatives, Trade Finance, ECA financing, etc.). The coverage teams manage the global relationships with these groups. GCIB has a deep understanding of clients from a Credit and Strategic perspective, enabling it to offer the right products. At the centre of the client relationship, the Relationship Management teams coordinate the commercial strategy as well as the business lines (Capital Markets FX, Rates, Project Finance, Trade Finance, Global Subsidiary Banking, etc.). The Private Equity Sponsor Coverage EMEA initiative aims to establish MUFG as a leading financial partner for Private Equity Sponsors across the EMEA region. This strategic effort is focused on expanding the client base, enhancing product offerings, and building a globally coordinated coverage model.
Main Purpose of the Role
- Building a Multiproduct Sponsor Platform: Develop a comprehensive platform that leverages MUFG's expertise and experience from across the globe and sponsor relationships. Focus on delivering bespoke financial solutions across various products, including Leverage Finance, Middle Market Direct Lending, AR Securitization, and Equity Margin Lending.
- Expanding Sponsor Client Base: Enhance the coverage model for sponsors, targeting Private Equity sponsors. Strengthen relationships with key sectors such as Energy Transition, Digital Infrastructure, and Growth and Middle Market Technology among others.
- Strategic Growth and Collaboration: Drive origination of Sponsor Portfolio activities through joint calling with Coverage and Product Bankers and regular product coordination forums. Contribute to bimonthly calls with Americas and APAC teams to ensure global coordination and originate financing opportunities from EMEA relationships. Collaborate with Corporate Coverage France to develop sponsor owned corporate relationships as appropriate.
- Balance Sheet Optimization: Manage sponsor transactions carefully and redeploy capital from non-accretive relationships to optimize the balance sheet.

- First Call Bank: Establish MUFG as the first call bank in core sectors and executions.
- Global Platform: Structure bespoke solutions for distribution and banking at asset, portfolio, GP, and LP levels.
- Origination Activities: Lead relationship management and origination activities across Financial Sponsors, focusing on Private Equity firms with accountability for hard revenue targets.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with Private Equity and Financial Sponsors key decision makers and investment teams, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs and objectives.
- Product Marketing and Origination: Market and originate key financial products, including Leverage Finance, Leverage Capital Markets, Middle Market Direct Lending, AR Securitization, Equity Margin Lending, and other Global Structured Solutions.
- Strategic Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth within the Private Equity sector.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored financial solutions that meet the unique needs of Private Equity clients. Collaboration with Corporate Coverage to develop sponsor owned corporate relationships as appropriate.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
Relevant Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant and recent Sponsor Coverage or Leveraged Finance experience with an established international institution.
- Excellent knowledge of Private Equity investments and capital deployment.
- Track record of leading transactions from idea generation and origination to execution of mandates.
- Existing relationships with major market participants.

- University degree in relevant subject or equivalent work experience.
- Fluent English; other European languages beneficial.
- Strong numerical skills.
