Compliance Technology Analyst – Assistant Vice President at MUFG, London.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions that strengthen compliance posture.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate scripts for integration and enhancement tasks using Python, PowerShell, .NET, and Power BI.
  • Analyse, design, and implement enhancements for transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and market surveillance platforms.
  • Perform hands-on development, configuration, and scripting on complex financial-crime systems.
  • Translate intricate business needs into clear technical specifications while ensuring robustness, compliance, and future-proofing.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on system issues and proactively design preventative controls.
  • Act as a key technology contact during internal and external audits, providing evidence of controls, documentation, and remediations.
  • Serve as liaison between business users and technology teams, coordinating with Compliance, Operations, Risk and other stakeholders.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on systems architecture and data flows to ensure seamless integration across platforms.
  • Analyse large datasets for anomalies or control gaps while maintaining data integrity.
  • Support model validation, including tuning machine-learning models where applicable to enhance detection capabilities.
  • Participate actively in change-management activities such as upgrades, patching cycles (SIT/UAT), new implementations, documentation maintenance and version control.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience supporting or enhancing financial-crime prevention systems within highly regulated banking environments.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex systems with a focus on transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, communication or market surveillance technologies.
  • Proficiency in Python and PowerShell for automation; experience developing scripts in .NET and Power BI.
  • Strong data-engineering background: Snowflake data warehousing, advanced SQL, MongoDB, SSIS.
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka for real-time streaming and exposure to containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on use of GitHub (or similar) for version control, branching and release management.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Exposure to AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch and practical experience deploying models into production.
  • Previous involvement with transaction-monitoring systems (e.g., Actimise) or sanction-screening tools (e.g., Fircosoft) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, organised, and capable of managing large workloads under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
