Overview
The Corporate Banking Department (London) is in charge of overall customer relationships and covers the following tasks. It is a front-office function responsible for business development of customers located in the United Kingdom and other demarcated countries in EMEA whose ultimate parents are Japanese corporates.
Responsibilities
- Achieve the BSC profit target assigned to the Department, acquire profit by offering MUFG products and services to clients through collaboration with Primary Offices.
- Discover future profit opportunities, monetize them with Product Offices' support, and maximize profit through close communication with MUFG affiliates within and outside the region.
- Plan short-term and mid-long-term account strategies on customers and execute them in due course; support the Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA in developing the Division's strategic planning.
- Focus on customer centricity by continuously improving the Department's customer base through necessary replacements, contributing to MUFG-wide business expansion, and offering and introducing new products and services for future profits.
- Maintain credit control by creating high-level credit/buyer rating applications through prudent and accurate credit analysis, and analysing the Department's credit portfolio and reporting to management.
- Own compliance and risk by building an adequate risk ownership framework and following compliance-related rules.
- Contribute to profit increases at other MUFG offices and support and enhance management/controls at other MUFG offices within the region.
- Ensure the administration of all internal requirements that assist business promotion activities and support the management to deliver efficient Japanese corporate banking operations.
- Manage day-to-day administrative work associated with the Japanese Corporate Banking Division's internal control requirements, ensuring no breaches of internal rules or procedures.
- Actively contribute to ad-hoc projects within JCBD to improve processes and operational efficiency not only for London but for the region.
- Create, update, and submit internal reports to relevant divisions in Headquarter in a timely manner, liaising with stakeholders to ensure reporting requirements are satisfied.
- Oversee and control day-to-day administrative work in the department to support the Head of Division and Department Head for the effective and efficient running of the department.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships across the division and other departments/branches in EMEA, including Head Office, to enable greater coordination of activities and aid collaborative working.
- Adapt to changing duties and responsibilities, carrying out other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by the line manager or Department Head.
- Flexible working requests are considered in line with organisational requirements.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of a wide range of banking products.
- Work experience in a financial institution with an understanding of Japanese corporate banking business.
- Previous experience in business management and/or administration.
- Fluency in Japanese, both written and verbal.
