Role summary:
The Events Manager is responsible for designing, delivering and continuously improving a strategic programme of customer-focused events that support revenue growth, customer retention and increased customer lifetime value. Working closely with the Customer Loyalty Manager, Growth & Acquisition Team, Sales, Marketing and external partners, the role ensures events are commercially effective, professionally delivered and measurably impactful. The Events Manager leads the end-to-end planning and execution of events, manages budgets and suppliers, and coaches the Events Coordinator to ensure consistent excellence across the events portfolio.
Skills/Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver an annual, integrated programme of customer events aligned to: Growth customers (to increase share of wallet and upsell opportunities) and Retention customers (to strengthen loyalty and long-term engagement).
- Partner with Sales Leadership, Growth and Loyalty teams to align events with account plans, regional targets and pipeline priorities.
- Ensure all events reinforce the brand, technical authority and customer value proposition.
- Set and maintain best‑practice standards for event briefs, itineraries and operational planning.
- Oversee risk management, compliance and contingency planning.
- Manage the events budget, ensuring spend is controlled and delivers maximum value.
- Track costs accurately and forecast future spend against the annual plan.
- Deliver year‑on‑year improvements in cost efficiency and value per attendee.
- Define success metrics for each event (e.g. attendance, engagement, pipeline influenced, satisfaction scores, retention indicators).
- Deliver post-event analysis and reporting to the Customer Loyalty Manager and senior stakeholders.
- Use insights and data to continuously improve future events.
- Negotiate long‑term agreements and preferred supplier arrangements.
- Lead sourcing, selection and ongoing performance management of suppliers.
- Regularly review supplier performance to ensure quality, innovation and value.
- Direct line management and development of the Events Coordinator.
- Set objectives, manage performance and create development plans.
- Build a resilient, scalable events capability.
- Lead and manage the internal Events Committee.
- Chair meetings, set agendas and ensure actions are tracked and delivered.
- Balance diverse stakeholder inputs while maintaining strategic alignment and focus.
Experience:
- 3+ years proven experience managing strategic, multi‑channel B2B events programmes with demonstrable commercial outcomes.
- Proven experience linking events to sales pipeline, account growth and customer lifetime value
- Strong experience managing six‑figure+ event budgets and demonstrating ROI
- Established experience in line management, coaching and performance development
- Advanced stakeholder management, including Sales Leaders and senior business stakeholders
- Strong commercial mindset, able to prioritise activity based on revenue opportunity and customer value
- Excellent analytical skills, including event attribution and performance reporting
- Confident leadership style with the ability to influence without authority
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and partners
- Degree or professional qualification in Marketing, Events Management, Business or related discipline (desirable)
- Relevant events or project management qualification (desirable)
