Role summary: As an experienced Sales Engineer, the incumbent will play an essential role in supporting the HV/MV Switchgear products supply (Circuit breaker, Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), cubicle GIS) business development and project execution for Mitsubishi Electric Europe. This role requires strong technical skills, commercial acumen, procurement and supply chain exposure as well as project management and client management capabilities. This is to support sales activity grow and development focusing on penetrating new markets in Europe and generating new customer relationships. The Sales Engineer will contribute to the sales expansion and ensure all products are delivered on time within the budget and ensure customer satisfaction for the European Market.
Skills/Responsibilities:
- Market investigation of transmission and distribution business in Europe, with specific focus on the offshore wind sector, but also other T&D sectors, to better understand, assess, prioritise, and target project opportunities.
- Analysing risks and opportunities relating to enquiries and tenders.
- In collaboration with our teams in UK and Japan develops and executes a commercial and business growth strategy to profitably increase market share.
- Reviewing customer enquiries/specifications, including technical review.
- Obtaining quotations and technical details from overseas suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Preparing quote/tender pricing based on input cost, market pricing knowledge, risks and internal margin expectations.
- Preparation of technical and commercial offers/tenders for HV/MV equipment from 11kV to 420kV switchgear, with particular focus on MV (72kV range) switchgear for the offshore wind sector.
- Full management of preparation and submission of simple/general quotes/period contracts/packages.
- Ensuring bids are completed on time to the highest standard.
- Review of commercial contracts with PSG legal and branch legal.
- Leading part of marketing activity to promote Mitsubishi Electric technical solutions to external clients during meetings and/or exhibitions with support from factories.
- Following up customer quotes, recording feedback/information and post tender negotiation.
- Customer visits and business development based on company sales plans.
- Maintain a database for all past, current and future bids.
- Reviewing and improving bid management and associated processes.
Experience:
- Previous Tendering experience in HV/MV Air Insulated Switchgear or GIS equipment.
- Ability to work in international and matrix organisation (Intercultural management).
- Be a “Team player”.
- Strong business acumen.
- Technical background with ability to grasp the key matter in each discipline.
- Good organisation and strong follow-up skills including reporting.
- Project Management skills.
- A strategic and operational person with good problem-solving skills.
