Role summary: This role is primarily to test, repair and prepare for shipping back to customer returned Parts and HVAC units for our Packaged Railway Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning systems. The service engineer candidate will have a high level of knowledge of refrigeration components and circuit operation and will be able to confidently undertake refrigeration circuit fault finding and repair work. The Service engineer is required to assist the Divisional Service Manager to ensure efficient, on time parts and unit returns KPI’s are achieved. The role is extremely important as we want to give our customers a great service and ensure they stay satisfied with the Mitsubishi Electric brand. The role is workshop based with occasional travel to work at customer sites and flexible working conditions. Although the majority of the work for this job role will be at our service center workshop facility in Milton Keynes, shortly relocating to Northamptonshire, from time to time the service engineer will be required to attend customer sites to test, repair and/or modify HVAC units and spare parts.

Skills/Responsibilities:

  • Establish & maintain good communication and partnerships with all team members, suppliers and customer representatives.
  • Interpret technical schematics to perform fault finding and rectification work on electrical control systems.
  • Be enthusiastic, flexible and reliable in approach to work with a “can do” attitude.
  • Ensure all activities are performed following instructions and information within the VMI and quality systems.
  • Report progress to supervisor and ensure reporting is accurate and promptly completed in the CLIK service system.
  • Take on the roles or duties as requested by the Divisional Service Manager.
  • Process work within the agreed KPI framework.
  • Perform telephone assistance for customers when necessary or applicable.
  • Accurately record activities using the CLIK service system and timesheets.
  • Take part in training as necessary to fulfil the job role.
  • Report quality and safety related non-conformances to line manager.
  • Ensure all relevant Health & Safety, COSHH and Permit to work regulations are adhered to at all times.

Experience:

  • Must have an Engineering qualification to Level 2 or above. BTEC / NVQ in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning systems is preferred.
  • Must have high level of understanding of refrigeration system operation and fault finding.
  • Must have +2 years experience in Electrical control systems fault finding preferably in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and/or Railway engineering.
  • There is some travel across the UK required to attend customer sites; vehicle will be provided as necessary.
  • Must hold a Driving Licence.
  • City & Guilds F Gas Certificate - Preferable.
  • City & Guilds 6187 (or equivalent) Pipework & Brazing – Preferable; must be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge of refrigeration circuit repair using brazing equipment.
  • Experience of fault-finding using PC based engineering software.
  • Key skills needed for this role are; good interpersonal skills, self-motivator, able to collaborate with team, proactive and flexible approach to tasks.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word & Excel.
