With 150,000 employees worldwide and 850 in the UK, we’re creating “Changes for the Better.” The Maintenance Lift Engineer Apprentice is responsible for supporting the inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and safe operation of lifts, escalators, and associated vertical transportation equipment under the supervision of qualified engineers. The role involves assisting with planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, identifying and reporting faults, replacing and adjusting mechanical and electrical components, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, health and safety legislation, and industry standards. The role requires the apprentice to develop practical engineering skills, technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, teamwork, and professional conduct to progress towards becoming a fully qualified Maintenance Lift Engineer capable of working independently on lift maintenance and repair activities. Assist with scheduled servicing and maintenance of lifts and associated equipment. Complete maintenance tasks in line with service schedules and engineering standards. Support inspections, cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacement activities. Help ensure equipment reliability and minimise breakdowns. Support qualified engineers in identifying and diagnosing faults. Assist with mechanical and electrical repairs under supervision. Successfully complete apprenticeship training modules and assessments. Develop technical knowledge and practical engineering skills. Demonstrate continuous improvement in fault-finding, maintenance, and repair activities. Apply learning from classroom and on-site training effectively. Complete work accurately and to required engineering standards. Follow maintenance procedures and technical instructions carefully. Basic mechanical and electrical engineering principles. Planned preventative maintenance procedures. Manual handling and safe use of tools and equipment. Technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals. Customer service principles and professional workplace behaviour. Digital maintenance systems and service reporting processes.
