Role summary

The software tester will be responsible for the quality of software development and deployment.

The tester will be involved in performing automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose.

Some of the duties include analysis of software, and systems, mitigate risk and prevent software issues.

Skills/Responsibilities

  • Develop creation of effective test cases and test data.
  • Analyse user stories, use cases and requirements for validity and feasibility.
  • Review and analyse system specifications.
  • Carry out testing as per the defined procedures.
  • Evaluate product code according to specifications.
  • Participate in walkthroughs of testing procedures.
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing.
  • Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression)
  • Help troubleshoot issues.
  • Design, develop and maintain automation scripts when needed.
  • Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies.
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results.
  • Create logs to document testing phases and defects.
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams.
  • Ensure that all tested related work is carried out as per the defined standards and procedures.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and departments.
  • Provide timely solutions.
  • Apply quality engineering principals throughout the Agile product lifecycle.
  • Provide support and documentation.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years hands on testing.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledgeable in Test Analysis (ISTQB Foundation Test Analyst)
  • Technical and analytical aptitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present to wide variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team player, able to contribute ideas improving and influencing all software deliverables and related processes.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, able to evaluate designs and technologies in a pragmatic manner.
