Overview
The Graduate Application Engineer role at Mitsubishi Corporation involves supporting the maintenance and operation of industry-leading Steam and Gas Turbines, Generators, and associated equipment. This role will be based in the Leeds office.
Role Responsibilities
- Work on design, modification, and upgrade proposal packages for gas turbine and steam turbine systems/components.
- Collaborate with customer support and repair engineering in developing computational models/analysis for gas turbine/steam turbine component design, performance, and reliability upgrade proposals.
- Support the development and improvement of turbine performance assessment tools and processes to support cost-saving initiatives.
- Assess the overall performance of rotary and stationary systems by applying basic thermodynamics design principles of gas turbine/steam turbine systems.
- Work with customer support and project management teams to identify customer-specific requirements and develop enhancement proposals for the installed fleet.
- Evaluate the impact of product and performance upgrade solutions on existing performance.
- Evaluate and maintain the competitive landscape of product and performance enhancement solutions available in the market.
- Provide technical support for sales and services proposal activities to commercial teams.
- Support configuration management by maintaining records of installed configurations, previous modifications, and upgrades in company-approved databases.
- Support project management, customer support, and commercial teams to maintain optimum inventory of used parts.
- Provide and develop technical capability to support feasibility studies for performance enhancement solutions.
- Acquire working knowledge in design and simulation activities of design/upgrade solutions.
- Write and/or revise Quality Management procedures as required.
- Understand the voice of the customer (VOC) and translate VOC into executable tasks.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Maintain a customer-focused mindset with the ability to respond quickly to meet customer needs.
Who can apply?

- Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree (MEng, MSc or equivalent) in Thermal Power and Fluids or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
- Strong background in simulation and design of gas turbines for aerospace, marine, or industrial applications.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and performance calculation.
- Knowledge of performance calculation of GT, GTCC, and Steam turbine power plants.
- Past industrial experience with simulation of gas/steam turbine systems is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; good communication with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient technical report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, diverse team.
- Good knowledge of MS Office; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with simulation software.
